Tri-County Motor Speedway - Race #4
This past weekend was another weekend of firsts.
It was my first time racing at Tri-County Motor Speedway, my first Late Model Stock race at the track, and another opportunity to continue learning a completely different style of racing than what I've spent most of my career doing.
We came away with a P10 finish, but the result definitely doesn't tell the whole story.
Early in the race, I was caught up in unavoidable contact in Turn 3 that left the car with damage for the remainder of the race. From that point on, the goal shifted from competing for positions to simply hanging on and bringing the car home. We spent most of the race nursing a damaged race car, making the best of a tough situation.
It wasn't the weekend I had hoped for, and I'll admit it was discouraging. As a driver, you always want the opportunity to show what you're capable of, and sometimes circumstances make that difficult.
That said, every lap in a Late Model Stock car is valuable experience. Racing at a new track, learning how these cars behave in traffic, adapting to changing track conditions, and continuing to build racecraft are all part of the process. While the result wasn't what I wanted, I still walked away having learned a lot.
One thing this transition into Late Model racing has reminded me is that growth isn't always linear. Some weekends everything clicks, and other weekends test your patience and resilience. Both are part of becoming a better driver.
I'm grateful to everyone who continues to believe in me and make these opportunities possible. Thank you to Coble Commercial Properties, Card Gorilla, and Shift Up Now for your continued support. It truly means the world to have people in my corner as I continue working toward my goals.
On to the next one.
